LLNE Spring 2010 Meeting:
First-ever! LLNE "Technology Slam"
Is your library on the cutting edge? Are you using a new tech tool or an old tool in a new way? Have you added Facebook, Library Thing, Lexis Casemap, Google books, user ratings or other "gadgets" to your library’s list of tools and services? Tell us about it!
Introducing the Technology Slam! If you’re feeling “cutting edge,” or you know you’re doing something no one else has thought of yet, bring your ideas forward! Similar in format to a “poetry slam,” the technology slam is a half hour set aside at our meeting for LLNE members to present two to three minutes on their library’s best practices. We’re limiting members to three minutes each so that we can hear from as many folks as possible. We’re holding the slam right before lunch and invite you to chat about ideas and best practices with your colleagues during lunch.
Librarians are the experts in the information business! Share the wealth of your knowledge with your peers!
Update: April 26, 2010
Thanks to everyone who joined the first ever tech slam! Despite the (irony filled) technology hiccups, it was a great experience. Below are some of the sites demonstrated :
IRis at Northeastern University
". . . digital archive that collects, manages, preserves, and shares the intellectual output and historical record of Northeastern University."
"Meebo Me lets you chat with anyone who comes to your blog or Web page. Visitors show up in your Meebo buddylist so you can strike up a conversation, answer questions, or just keep tabs on guests."
"Keep, share, and discover the best of the Web using Delicious, the world's leading social bookmarking service."
