Access

University of New Hampshire School of Law Library is a private law library serving the research needs of the Law School's faculty and students.  Alumni/ae of UNH School of Law enjoy free access to the library forever.  An Attorney Membership program provides subscribers with access to the library and special privileges in exchange for an annual fee. 

University of New Hampshire Faculty and Students

All current UNH faculty and students (both Durham and Manchester) can use the law library with full privileges.  In order for us to track how many non-law students are using the library, we ask you to sign in as a UNH student at the circulation desk.  If you'd like to check out books and materials, please be prepared to show your UNH ID at the desk, and fill out a registration form. 

Non-UNH School of Law community members who may access the library include:

• Attorney Members
  • Full access
  • Borrowing privileges
  • Access to free Westlaw Pro

  • May purchase an annual membership
  • Access, but no borrowing privileges
• Intellectual Property Patrons
  • Can acquire a one-day pass (free)

  • Must show a valid school ID
  • No borrowing privileges
• NH Bar Applicants
  • Must show bar review ID badge
  • Access ends second day of bar exam
• Students From Other NH Colleges
  • Must show a valid school ID from one of the following:  Antioch, College of Lifelong Learning, Franklin Pierce University, Southern NH University, NH Technical Institute, Rivier College, St. Anselm College
  • No borrowing privileges
• Students From Paralegal Programs
  • Access must be arranged by the instructor in advance

Courtesy Access

One time courtesy access is extended to attorney patrons who arrive at the library unaware of the limited access policy.  Membership information will be provided.  These attorneys will be asked to provide their name, firm, address, and phone number to the Circulation Desk Assistant.  Future access to the Law Library will require membership.

It is the policy of the UNH School of Law Library to deny library privileges, including access, to any patron who:

• Fails to register and show appropriate identification at the circulation Desk when entering.
• Fails to return to the circulation desk when the security alarm sounds upon exit, and refuses to cooperate with the Desk Assistant until the cause of the alarm is successfully determined.
• Fails to respect the rights of other patrons.
• Fails to respect library property.
• Fails to follow the library's written policies and rules set forth in library publications.
