A note from our Director
Barry Shanks has accepted a position as Professor and Law Librarian at the College of the Bahamas in Nassau. As the library's Reference/Interlibrary Loan Librarian, Barry served our students, faculty, staff, alumni and attorney members with skill and unfailing good humor for ten years. His ability to track down obscure materials for faculty, law review editors and outside attorneys is legendary. An inveterate world traveler, Barry frequently completed interlibrary loan transactions aboard ship in the Carribean or Antarctic and from hotels in Europe and the Middle East. Dedication. He invariably made every patron feel his or her reference query was the most important -- ever. A decade of first year students had the privilege of learning skills-based legal research from this inspiring teacher. And thanks to his mentoring, a number of our students now enjoy successful careers as law librarians at law schools across the country. This is a professional legacy any law librarian would envy and be proud to own.
To say we will miss this smart, witty, incredibly kind man is a profound understatement.
